Auto Start/Stop Function

8369 Views 9 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  rumsbyb
I don't get it, just this week my auto start/stop stopped working.
I switch it on and it says in the middle of the dash that its on and when I do a stop the light on the right goes on indicating that the stop function kicked on but the vehicle is still running.
I have 12,000 km on it
Its about 20 degrees Celsius
Nothing else is on like A/C or radio.
I just don't know why it stopped working.
Anyone else with this problem?

There are a couple of reasons why your start/stop system may have stopped functioning properly. I don't know if you've done a voltage test, but there is a chance that your battery may have a lower charge than normal. Your engine control software could also be outdated, so you should figure out if its running the latest version.
I actually want to do the opposite, turn my ASS (Auto Stop Start) (😀) permanently off. Currently, it resets to on each time I cycle the ignition of the vehicle.

I really don’t like this function. It always feels as if someone lightly rearended me each time it restarts. Not as smooth as some of the other vehicles I have owned.
I do not believe that there is anyway to permanently disable it. If there is it would most likely involve a root login into the cars computer, which can be dangerous if you don't know what you're doing.
I have used both the Mercedes Star and BMW in the past to make changes and to add upgrades. Does Jag have a software interface package?
Disable start stop

Company: auto stop eliminator

This Company offers a product to disable auto start stop: Their web site is https://www.autostopeliminator.com

Contact is: Travis Lambert email: [email protected]

They currently don't offer a device for Jaguar's E-Pace or F-Pace.

They will work with a Jaguar owner to make a device if you are within reasonable driving distance of Fairmont, WV. They will do it for free because they could then offer the device for sale to others. You could stay with your vehicle the entire time. It usually takes about 4-6 hours to put together a prototype and test it.

I can't justify driving 15 hours to Fairmont WV.

2021 Jaguar E Pace SE I hate stop start and eliminated it on all the cars I have owned using the Autostopeliminator on GM cars with success. On this Jaguar there are two skinny wires that lead to the negative terminal on the battery to measure (I suspect weak battery or heat in the battery system) which would default stop start under normal situations. I just cut (snipped) one of these wires by pulling (cutting) back the loose insulation (one has a black long thermal couple on it ) that is the one to snip and Stop Start goes away permanently with no ill affects or lights or codes coming on.
