Exterior Lighting

I don't see any mention of adaptive headlights or cornering lights in the on-line manual. I thought I saw a diagram of the LED headlight design or an earlier version of the brochure, but now I don't see it. Does anyone have any information on this? Also, (as an aside) is the steering column position memorized in the seat memory? It looks like it is adjusted manually, so I think not. Thanks.

The option for the matrix led headlight (which provides both the cornering and adaptive functionality) is in the international brochure and the international online configurator (not the US). If this option is really not available in the US, that would be a show stopper for me.

Odds are they will make it an upsell, the Brits are guilty of that but at the same time are within industry norm's for doing this. Maybe after driving the E-Pace you will like it enough to pay that premium?

My wife and I are so used to driving with headlights that illuminate in the direction of travel at highway speeds, and the direction of turning even while making a turn at low speeds (Infiniti 2008 QX50 and Mercedes 2016 GLC) that it would be difficult to give up that option. It is a matter of safety. My concern is that although Jaguar appears to have that functionality in the optional matrix led headlight, that it will not be offered here in the US (not sure why) (just like the diesel engines will not be offered). Of course I would pay the premium in a car that can total out at $60,000 US dollars to have it. I am hoping it is an error, but if it isn't, I will likely pass on the car.

Maybe the headlight unit can be ordered tom replace the stock headlight. Should be compatible if other markets off it, though I don't understand why it's missing in the North America models. Best to ask the dealership for options.

Thumbs down

I contacted Jaguar concerning the new optional LED matrix headlight. According to the response, it will not be offered here in the US (and Canada) because it does not meet the National Highway Safety guidelines for headlight design requiring a separate light source for both high and low beams. The E-Pace will neither have cornering lights nor the adaptive light function. How very disappointing!

Well that's a shame...at least give us the adaptive light function if not the LED matrix headlight. Can't even get it shipped over if it's illegal to have unless there's an aftermarket option.

Perhaps there may be a way to order a set from Europe if Jaguar is offering the E-Pace with it there. Though you will be driving an illegally modified car at that point. If it's a law, then that would mean no other car in the States and Canada will ever offer them as an option.

It might be illegal but when it comes to new cars most cops don't bother because its not nearly as obvious as to whats OEM or added compared to older cars. Its worth the risk but don't blame me if you get in trouble

From what I understand, adaptive lights are when high beam swivels with steering around curves while cornering lights are extra lights that turn on when the steering wheel is at a certain angle. It's missing from the U.S. F-Pace as well.
